Boot and Coniston

Home

One week in the Motorhome at an end of the Lake District that Dad does not normally visit. As it happened we were well pleased. The campsite at Boot was a marvel and one of the best ever.Dad was shocked that he had no internet, TV or newspapers, but dad managed to console himself in the 2 pubs.

Monday was a good day walked 7 miles crossed loads of rivers and tarns. the biggest was Blea Tarn a quick coffee stop a path down we found a nice old pub at the Green.
We then headed back along the river to Boot. This is where I was stepping on the stones and fell in the river, never mind we were only 1 mile from a towel and dry socks.

The early morning train

Lunch was at Burnmoor tarn

After an easy day when dad vanished for a walk and turned up at the pub to meet us for lunch and a walk back, I only managed 4 miles with mam.
Thursday was back tp full steam. well it would have been if the early train was not a diesel pulled one. The idea was to catch the train 3 stops to Irton road, the walk up into the forest and back via Burnmoor Tarn a distance of 6 mile with a good climb, dad vanished again heading for higher ground only to meet us back for lunch at Burnmoor Tarn.
All in a fantastic time at boot an early night to head off for coniston in morning. I got to choose the pub tonight for being such a good boy. the Boot inn was my favorite, it has a fantastic play area out front.
